GoogleI was unsure about getting an IUD, and contacted the clinic. I was able to get a consult over the phone to ask a few questions about the process. Dr Baskerville was super friendly and welcoming, answering all my questions thoroughly. She walked me through the process, what to expect, and what I would need for the procedure. When I went in for my appointment, it was very easy process. The first thing they got me to do was a urine sample. After I was checked in, I was led to a room and waited there for my doctor. The wait time was quick, and once Dr. Baskerville entered the room, we had a discussion about my medical history, anything I was worried about, and then went through the procedure process one more time so that I was prepared for what was to come. I was very anxious, and she was very kind and took her time to make sure I felt comfortable enough to proceed with the procedure. The process itself was quite quick. The insertion itself felt like you get really bad cramps for like 30 seconds, and then it subsides. After the insertion, she checked to see how I was doing (pretty great at this point, just needed a moment to decompress) and left the room to give me privacy to dress, and then came back in to follow up on how I was feeling and if there was any concerns. I felt very confident leaving the IUD clinic, and super grateful I had Dr. Baskerville helping me. Some tips for fellow new iud friends: • Book a consult for more information if you are anxious like me! (Write down all your questions before you call, I tend to forget and freeze in the moment) • Taking some painkillers is recommended if you are sensitive to pain (please ask the doctor about which ones, as I didn't need to. It works the same way as when you're on your period!) • If you have benefits, it might be covered! (mine was 80% covered!)
